Bookmarklet

The fastest way to save content to your knowledge base without leaving your browser. One click to capture articles, posts, and any web content exactly where you found it.

What is the bookmarklet

The bookmarklet is a lightweight alternative to a full browser extension. It lives in your browser's bookmarks bar and works across all your devices without installation. When you find something worth saving, you click it and a quick-save form appears right on the page you're viewing.

No need to copy URLs, switch tabs, or open Edicek. You stay in your flow, add a quick note about why you're saving it, and you're done.

Once saved, Edicek automatically processes the content in the background based on its type - extracting text, generating summaries, and adding everything to your knowledge base. Next time you search or chat with AI, this content will be there, ready to surface relevant insights and help you get better answers based on what you've saved.

This is particularly useful when you're deep in research mode, following links through multiple articles, or just browsing and discovering interesting content. Instead of losing your place or momentum, you save instantly and continue reading.

How to install it

Installing the bookmarklet is a one-time setup that takes less than a minute.

Step 1: Show your bookmarks bar. If your bookmarks bar isn't visible, enable it first:

  • Chrome/Edge: Press Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac)
  • Firefox: Right-click the toolbar and select Bookmarks Toolbar
  • Safari: View menuShow Favorites Bar

Step 2: Get your bookmarklet. Go to your profile page in Edicek (login and select Profile from the user menu in the top right). You'll find your personal bookmarklet link in the Browser Bookmarklet section.

Step 3: Drag and drop. Drag the Save to Edicek link from your profile page directly to your bookmarks bar. That's it.

The bookmarklet contains your personal access token, which grants full access to your account - just like being logged in. Keep it private and only save it on your personal computer, never on shared or public devices. Anyone with your bookmarklet link can access and control your entire account.

How to use it

Using the bookmarklet is designed to be fast and straightforward.

When you find something to save, click the Save to Edicek button in your bookmarks bar. A compact form appears as an overlay on the current page. You can add a note explaining why you're saving this (highly recommended - it helps with AI search later), and click Save.

What you can save

The bookmarklet works with virtually any web content, but some types get special treatment.

Articles and blog posts are captured with full text extraction, clean formatting, and intelligent summaries. The AI focuses on the main content and filters out navigation, ads, and boilerplate.

Social media posts from Twitter/X, including the post text, author, and any linked content. Note that media files (images, videos) from social posts may have limitations due to platform restrictions.

YouTube videos get full transcription, making the spoken content searchable. You can later search for specific topics discussed in videos you've saved.

TikTok videos receive transcription treatment, turning short-form video content into searchable text.

Any other webpage gets saved with a full-page screenshot and whatever text content can be extracted. Even if the original page changes or disappears later, you'll have the screenshot.

💡

The bookmarklet automatically detects the page type and applies the best capture method. You don't need to choose or configure anything.

Tips

Keep your bookmarks bar visible - Press Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or Cmd+Shift+B (Mac) to toggle it. Having the bookmarklet always visible makes saving frictionless.

Always add notes - Even a few words help the AI understand why you saved this. Your note influences how we summarize and categorize the bookmark.

Works across browsers - Install the bookmarklet in Chrome, Firefox, Safari, or Edge. It works the same way everywhere and syncs to your same Edicek workspace.

Limitations

Mobile browsers have limited bookmarklet support. Chrome on iOS and Android doesn't support bookmarklets for security reasons. If you're on iOS, use our iOS Shortcut instead. On Android, alternative browsers like Firefox, Kiwi, or Yandex support bookmarklets.

If the bookmarklet doesn't work as expected on a specific website, please contact our support team. We'll help you resolve the issue, and your feedback helps us improve Edicek for everyone.
